We're off to a great start for 2010. January saw an increase in subscription and renewals. It's good to see new longarmers and veterans either come to Longarmchat for the first time or return after being absent. Regardless of why you're here, we want to give you a heartfelt welcome or welcome back!

Updated information 9/11/09!!!

Kate Mitchell is hosting an IQ "retreat" Oct. 19th and 20th when I will be in the New York region for an installation.. Kate lives in the Albany, area and has a beautiful vacation, rental home that we will be staying at. She can only accommodate around 8 people, so please sign up as soon as possible if you're interested.
Here are more details....
Monday the 19th we will be meeting in the morning and starting a mystery quilt Kate will be designing for us. To learn more about Kate and her designs please visit http://www.berkshirequilts.com/. During breaks we will be discussing ways to incorporate the IQ to execute the quilting. The quilt will have a few challenging areas on it so we can learn how to deal with them IQ wise. Hopefully by the afternoon we will all have our quilts pieced. After dinner, there will be a short demonstration on how to digitize with Corel Draw 12 and also a question and answer session for some of the newer features of the IQ. During this time, some may also want to hand sew optional applique designs onto their mystery quilt tops to practice some of the IQ's background features.
Tuesday the 20th we will then be moving over to Kate's studio in town for me to demonstrate quilting this actual quilt top. I will be demonstrating 3 different ways to fit and sew the borders along with tips and tricks for streamlining setting up the blocks. Included in the demonstrations will be actual stitch-outs of background fills and creative ways to use them. If there is time, I will also be loading a different quilt and showing how to go about incorporating no-sew blocks within a panto and also setting up and sewing pantos to perfection within borders.
Costs for this retreat is $200 per student. This includes, instruction, housing and FOOD! Please let Kate or myself know as soon as possible if you are interested.
Thanks,
Linda Lawson

We have recovered the Newbie articles that were once on this site. Some of you have asked for these and so we are adding them once again to the homepage. Currently I have the first phase formatted but will be working on phase 2 and 3 in the next few weeks. Look for updates.

Well, I finally have a homepage back that I can edit. John has done such a great job with the backbones of this site, but I needed to "wear my own clothes" again when it comes to the homepage. I will be changing this up a bit from time to time and adding important information about the site and announcements as they come up. Thank you for your patience while we work on some of the more technical issues.
The newest change is the addition of the Chat Room. It is basically the same chatroom as we had before, however now you will be logged on automatically once you are signed into the site. Everyone will be known by their username in the chatroom. Again, this is private, to only paid subscribers only as this aides in keeping it semi-private. We will start Chat off with Sunday night sessions, but feel free to announce special chat sessions whenever you want.
Ahh, now I can relax a little LOL...
